Twelve questions to ask before booking a football camp in Spain
If the website does not answer these, ask by email and keep the reply. A camp that will not put an answer in writing is telling you something.
On supervision
- How many children per monitor, overnight as well as during the day?
- How many players per coach in training sessions?
- Who sleeps in the accommodation block, and where?
- Is there a named child protection officer, and how do I contact them during the stay?
On staff
- What qualifications do the coaches hold, and how many of each?
- Are background checks carried out on everyone in contact with children?
On health
- Is there medical cover on site, or on call?
- What exactly does the insurance cover, and up to what amount?
On money
- What is the total price, including registration fee and deposit?
- What is not included that most families end up paying for?
- What happens to my money if we cancel eight weeks out? And two weeks out?
On travel
- Do you accept unaccompanied minors, and does someone meet the flight?
Ask them all in one email. The speed and precision of the reply tells you as much as the answers.
