How the transparency index works
Every camp carries a score from 0 to 100 and a grade from A to E. It answers one question: how much checkable information does this operator publish about its own camp?
What it measures
How much of what a family needs to know is published by the operator, in public, before anyone has to pick up the phone.
What it does not measure
- Whether the camp is any good.
- Whether the price is fair.
- Whether the safety arrangements are adequate — only whether they are published.

Grades
- A — 85–100
- B — 70–84
- C — 50–69
- D — 30–49
- E — 0–29
Evidence
Every scored field has a record of where we read it, what it said and when we checked. A field with no such record scores nothing and is shown as not published, whatever our database happens to contain. Hover the ⓘ next to any figure to see its source.
Why "verified by us" scores nothing
If we contact an operator and they confirm a figure, we publish it with a badge — and award zero points. The index measures the operator's transparency. Scoring our own research would let an opaque operator climb the table on the strength of our work.
Freshness
Evidence expires twelve months after the date it was checked. Expired evidence goes back into our verification queue and the camp page says so.
Corrections
Operators who believe a field is scored wrongly can send us the URL where the datum is published. If it is there and we missed it, we record the evidence and the score changes at the next recomputation. A private email cannot remove a "not published" mark — that becomes "verified by us", which carries a badge and no points.
Commercial relationships
Some camps carry a commercial link, marked as such. Commercial agreements have no effect on the index whatsoever, and an operator cannot pay to change a grade.
