What a fair weekly price looks like
Why the headline price is rarely the price, and how to work out the real one.
Start from price per week
Camps quote for different lengths of stay. A two-week price and a ten-day price are not comparable until you divide. Every price in this directory is normalised to a weekly figure for that reason.
Then add the things that are not in it
The four that catch families out most often:
- Registration fee. A one-off charge on top of the programme price.
- Deposit. Sometimes non-refundable, sometimes deducted, rarely explained.
- Airport transfer. Frequently an extra, and frequently priced per trip rather than per stay.
- Insurance. Occasionally included, occasionally an extra, occasionally absent.
The signals worth reading
An operator who publishes a full inclusions table and puts a number next to every extra has decided to compete on clarity. An operator whose page says "from EUR X" with no breakdown has decided something else.
Neither tells you whether the football is any good. Both tell you what kind of company you will be dealing with when something goes wrong.
A note on cheap camps
A low price is not a warning sign in itself. Spanish costs vary enormously by province and by whether the camp owns its facilities. What matters is whether the price is complete.
